Rough dispatches from Fyre Festival sound like an Instagrammer's nightmare

Though Ja Rule's Fyre Festival promised a luxury experience in exchange for its hefty ticket price, luxurious it is definitely not.

Per the BBC, the festival, which began today, is off to a rocky start and attendees are documenting the mess on Twitter.

Though the event was slated to begin Friday in the Bahamas' Exhumas islands, the festival seemed in disarray when guests began arriving Thursday. While Fyre Festival's glitzy website promised luxury accommodations, Twitter users at the event say their tents weren't ready upon arrival.

Confused guests were apparently stranded without their luggage until well after the sun went down, and were apparently served meals like bread and packaged cheese for dinner.

In addition, headliner Blink-182 cancelled its scheduled festival performance earlier on Thursday, citing an inability to "give you the quality of performances we always give our fans."

Twitter user William N. Finley of North Carolina has been sharing dispatches from the island since his arrival Thursday.

In the early hours of Friday, Fyre Festival released a statement via Instagram stating that they, "are working to comfortably accommodate guests and deliver a great experience," for attendees already on the island.

As for those schedule to arrive Friday: "Due to circumstances beyond our control, and in line with a culture of safety, all inbound charter flights to the Exumas have been canceled. Your ticket and any funds uploaded to your RFID band will be refunded."

Meanwhile, guests on the island have rushed to leave early. Most tickets to the Fyre Festival -- which ran from $450 to $12,780 -- included private flights to and from the island, which seems to have presented its own set of complications. Fleeing attendees waited at the airport for hours.

As Finley told Mashablevia Twitter DM at about 9:30 a.m. ET, "We are on a chartered plane from Swift Air, the same airline that flew us there. Everyone on board is from the festival. We're about to take off now."

The reality is a far cry from the glamorous experience Fyre Festival's marketing videos promised. A video promoting the event from earlier this year featured the likes of models Hailey Baldwin and Bella Hadid lounging idly on a yacht.

Meanwhile, Finley jokingly described the experience with a Lord of the Fliesreference: "I have the conch. Piggy is dead. Chaos surrounds us".

Fyre Festival has not yet responded to a request for comment through its concierge email. An automated email read: "We apologize for the inconvenience as we are experiencing overwhelming demand."

Update, Friday, April 28, 11:08 A.M. ET: Fyre Festival has been "postponed."
