'Call of Duty' figures out how to make loot boxes even more awful

Apparently the next Call of Dutygame will let players watch other players open loot boxes. It's a Feature™ built into the game. Watching other people unbox loot.

The latest issue of Game Informerrevealed a brand new social hub coming to Call of Duty: WWII called Headquarters, where players can hang out between online matches, challenge each other to 1v1 duels, test guns on a firing range, open loot boxes earned in the last match ... and watch other players open loot boxes.

Not only are you able to watch people open up digital loot boxes, you are actually encouraged to do so.

By watching other people open loot boxes, you can earn prizes. Exactly what these prizes are is unknown at this time but they're probably cosmetics, similar to the ones players can get from opening their own, actual loot boxes.

Undoubtedly, Activision is hoping that players will watch other players earn cool items and want to invest in securing loot boxes of their own.

There is a more wholesome side to this, though. Some people just really like watching other people open loot boxes. Every time Overwatchor Hearthstonehas a big new update, Twitch and YouTube creators can see hundreds of thousands of views just from opening up a bunch of loot boxes or card packs.
